Mr Mac and Doug the Digger come to Glenbervie

Mr Mac came to visit rooms 6 and 7 today.  He told us a little about his life growing up and how he loved machines!  He shared how he had a contracting business and built things all day long until...
he had an accident which eventually meant he couldn't keep doing the job he loved.  One day he had a dream of writting a children's book and so he did.  It took him three years of hard work but he persevered.  Mr Mac read his book to us and we read to him.  We also listened to his book on the CD.  Thanks Mr mac for coming to see us.

The Snail Trail - picture book

The Snail Trail
We read a picture book called the Snail Trail.  In the book a snail visits a Modern Art gallery and hunts for it's portrait.  The snail looks at several examples of modern art but none are it's portrait.  As it moves through the gallery it leaves a silver trail behind it.  Finally it finds it's portrait which was inspired by Matisse - a very famous artist who cut and ripped paper.
We explored Matisse's style creating snails of our own and we then experimented with different styles of modern art.  We created our own Snail Trail.  We think it is wonderful!  We linked it to our learnng about the Multiple Intelligences.  We were being Art Smart!  We hope to post a video of our Snail trail soon!
