Marble Jar Treat - Toy and Hut building Day
We played Balloon Lava - we had to make sure the balloons didn't touch the ground.
We had so much fun.
Super Science Friday - Paper Planes
This group folded their own paper plane designs. They thought about what shape would move through the air the best - we linked back to our experiment with the round and square containers and the candle.
Super Science Friday - Sail Boat Group
The children in this group designed sails to catch wind and push their boat along. they had mixed results. Children who designed boats with more than one sail were quite successful. Unfortunately Mr Timms had drained the swimming pool so we had to test them in a fish bin. Not the same!!!
Super Science Friday Fun - Using Wind Hovercrafts
We made Hovercrafts. The air flow created by the balloon causes a cushion of moving air between the disc and the surface. This lifts the CD and reduces the friction which allows the disc to hover freely. Large scale hovercraft are capable of traveling over land, snow and water.
After running our first trial we decided to make it slippery by using soap. We thought this would make less friction. But it actually made more friction and the CD got stuck!
Then we tried with more water on the table. Our hovercraft went really fast.
